MAYBE. Crazy Ex has being a CBS production in it's corner and scored a backorder. I think a nomination or a win (pending its viewership doesn't go lower) could land it a renewal.

What if Crazy Ex gets nominations?
Ratings are slowly rising, perhaps it can squeak out another season. Love this show like I love Jane. And that's a HUGE compliment.

It means either they don't want to commit to more yet but need to keep the writers busy or that are questioning giving it more episodes but want to see where they'll go or have them do changes and see how those work.

The 18 episode order only reduces it's chances slightly. It's still very likely to be renewed.

Testing shows will most likely do worse... simply looking at ABC and CBS scripted shows during summer and translate that to FOX typical ratings. They will definitely not risk ordering scripted shows on late Spring to Summer, unless again they are canned limited show like Wayward Pines (which IMO, it was a moderate hit for FOX).

One fault of FOX this season is ordering less and banking on Scream Queens to be huge, Rosewood to be moderate success, Grinder+Grandfathered to work its Tuesday wonder with SQ and its older shows holding up. (We most likely know next season, they are hoping X-files will come back big, and hopefully Lookinglass). They better off running a lot of limited shows next year, 10-12 episodes per show and cancel the underperforming ones and renew the potentials. It's like a buffet of show, and hopefully one dish will be eaten by many.

(However having said that FOX have this fetish over police procedural, so expect next year to order more shows that are variation of Minority Report/Rosewood/Lucifer)

FOX should start testing show in the summer time and see if they could get a hit show that could possibly move to fall time. I understand that network TV create show for profit, but when ratings get so low, as they are now...and you renew them, it's hard to climb out of that disaster. Fox spring lineup will flop hard and might have ratings that are fractional. Once football over Sunday night line-up will all drop in ratings. FOX need to greenlight a LOT of new show and hope one or two become big. How much can you profit when your ratings are starting to look like cable ratings and not broadcast ratings. At this point FOX need to take a big risk. And Last I checked advertisement is television biggest source of income. The.Higher rated the show the more money advertiser will pay for a commercial spot. No but again FOX have to renew something. And renewal will be based on how the show can be profitable enough. There is a reason why Laura in NBC was renewed last year. And FOX is in a similar situation where their new shows failed to deliver. I'm pretty sure if the shows for Spring holds up better and well than Fall shows then Grinder, Grandfathered, Scream Queens and maybe Rosewood (but that is if the show beats its season average) will be in trouble. But again looking at their Spring shows, that's unlikely.

In theory FOX should just save Empire and cancel everything but then again, they cannot do that, because it also mean they have to order so many new shows and run the risk of all failing... And therefore they have to do a calculated risk of maintaining enough shows to run the network, enough that it can still get profit and hope to find another Empire in another season or so and cancel underperforming shows.

My current favorite.
Season 1 is amazing
Season 2 not quite as good but highly watchable .Season 3 is slit into 2 parts first half was sometimes unwatchable (Neverland arc) but second half (OZ plot) was the best of the series for me.
Season 4 (FROZEN storyline) was lots fun and the second half (Queens of Darkness) was also really good.
So far season 5 (Camelot) is above average and the upcoming Greek mythology storyline featuring Hercules should be another winner!
Invest time with this gem from the creators of my all time favorite show LOST.
